Sat 1st July is one week out from showtime: how’s everyone feeling?

The first Wizards of the Wire community wire walking workshops were underway in the Quad, and the excitement of the participants was palpable. A mix of bouncy children, playful parents, and brave/cautious adults were all led through the warm-ups, and graduated to low-wire funambulism in 45 minutes.

Behind them, the crew were hard at work setting out the wires and safety lines; let’s grab one minute with as many of them as we can, to ask how they’re feeling about the show, 7 days from opening:

Joey, Designer: Tired, excited, looking forward to seeing 3000 people here!

Eleanor, Performer: Fantastic- this morning we had 3 walkers on the wire, and it felt exciting.

Dylan, Performer (Con Colleano): Pumped! Looking forward to the community’s reaction to the show.

Corinna, Stage Manager: I’m confident. It’s coming together [she just arrived from Sydney to join the team]; the vision is congealing (is that the right word!?). I’m happy to see the community getting involved today… but I am a bit worried about the coming weather…

Scotty, Performer: Ready, excited, and a little apprehensive of course.

Sierra, Production Team: Really excited to have the community here who’ve signed up to the Wizard workshops. And it feels like the show is in really good hands now.

Rindi, Performer: Appropriately nervous and excited.

Blake, DJ & Sound: Optimistically exhausted.

Phoebe, Creative Producer & Production : The community wire walkers are helping build excitement- we’re all a bit tired- I’m definitely looking forward to the show.

I couldn’t get quotes from the incredible riggers, as they were firmly up on their shipping containers, clipping/pulling/wrangling/shifting. I know everyone has worked really hard, and there is a sense of the process moving towards its pinnacle Sat & Sun 8 & 9 Julywill you be there? Lismore Quad, 1-5pm, FREE for all.
